Drawers in Workflows

Business software users run into trouble when a single workflow must be split into a mother task and a child task. It’s challenging to design for a multi-branches process because it’s predetermined and has multiple steps that depend on one another. In most cases, users would rather not have to reset or switch gears. Benoît and Ceara suggest a drawer as a workaround to the problem of having a side-flow interrupt the main flow.

A drawer can be used for anything that needs doing, like updating a document, and it can be converted to a mobile format without effort. Some advantages of a drawer part are that it may be used as a constant source of reference data, has points of scalability, and slides into place with ease.
